Hey there Totties!

Winter is FINALLY coming to an end which means that as the weather is starting to get warmer we will absolutely need something to quench our thirst.

We are always hearing about how important it is to stay hydrated no matter what time of year it is. Hitting that daily water quota can be a difficult task, so we’re here with a fun way to keep you hydrated! Adding fruits and vegetables to your water is a great way to make drinking water more exciting. Living in Truckee, California (just north of Lake Tahoe) is a blessing for so many reasons: the accessibility to nature, over a dozen ski resorts within an hour’s drive, and friends coming up frequently to visit. But perhaps the best part about a mountain lifestyle is that the seasons here are actually seasons, and each season comes with it’s own activities. While it’s a small town, it never feels isolating because there’s so much to do! That being said, it could be easy to get caught up in all the right “gear” and outdoor garb to accompany my outdoor active lifestyle. I love Hottotties pieces because they’re so effortlessly easy. I’m able to wear them all year long: as base layers in the winter, as outfit pieces in the spring and fall, and they’re perfect sleepwear for camping in the summer.

I recently spent the day driving around Lake Tahoe with my husband, former professional snowboarder Nick Visconti. We’re gearing up to open a specialty coffee roastery here in Truckee and so quality time together is precious these days. Nick and I had a blast exploring around the Lake as he shot some photos of me wearing my favorite Hottotties pieces: the Lenox Long Sleeve and Lenox Leggings, which are my new go-to black legging. I predict many more adventures lay ahead in these cozies!

Winter will soon be coming to an end, and with that the weather will be getting warmer. But while we still have that winter snow, why not take off for a little cozy holiday retreat?

There’s nothing like getting out of town for a few days, hitting the slopes, and cozying up by a fire place in a nice wood cabin at the end of the day.

We have our top three getaway destinations that will have you packing your bags and running for the hills! (Don’t forget to pack your hottotties!)

    1. Le Massif, Quebec

This ski hill is located in the adorable town of Charlevoix in Quebec. The hill ski hill itself has the highest vertical drop of all the hills in Eastern Canada and east of the Rockies!

    1.  Stowe, Mountain Resort, Vermont

Escape to the Stowe Mountain Resort with a trip to Vermont. Enjoy a day on the slopes, and if you're not a skier enjoy a day at the spa!

    1. Saas-Fee, Switzerland
If you’ve got a little more time than a weekend, (spring break maybe?) get away to the beautiful Saas Fee in Switzerland! This resort has skiing, hiking trails, and tons of wellness package with scenery you couldn't imagine.

Whether you're spending valentine's day this year with a loved one, or planning on curling up on the couch with a box of chocolates to watch some chick flicks, (cue The Notebook please!)  we’ve got a great recipe for you to indulge in this v-day.

We’re totally in love (hey, it’s Valentine’s day afterall!) with these Marbled Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies from the Novice Chef

    Here’s what you’ll need:

    • 3 1/4 cups flour
    • 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar
    • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 3 large eggs
    • 1 cup vegetable oil
    • 4 tablespoons milk, divided
    • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
    • 2 teaspoons white vinegar
    • 2 8oz packages cream cheese, softened
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla

    Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 18 jelly roll pan with butter or spray with Baker's Joy.

In large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons milk, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and white vinegar.

Combine the dry and wet ingredients, until completely combined. The batter will be a really thick, almost moldable texture...but don't worry, that's what you want. Remove 3/4 cup of the batter and place it in a medium bowl. Whisk in the remaining 2 tablespoons of milk (into the 3/4 cup of batter you just took out). Set aside the 3/4 cup batter.

Pour the remaining batter into the prepared jelly roll pan. Using a spatula, smooth out the batter to reach all the edges.

Now, in your stand mixer, beat cream cheese and sugar until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla, beating until combined and there are no lumps. Pour the cream cheese mixture on top of the red velvet layer and smooth mixture till it reaches all the edges.

Drop spoonfuls of the remaining red velvet batter (that you mixed with milk) onto the top of the cheesecake layer. Drag the tip of a knife through the red velvet and the cheesecake layers to create swirls.

Bake for 30 minutes, rotating halfway through, or just until the center is set and it no longer jiggles. Let cool completely on a wire rack before cutting. Use a medium sized heart cookie cutter to create the perfect Valentine's Day treat!

Valentine’s day is all about love, so go ahead and show yourself some love Tottie, you deserve it!

First off it must be said that Nancy Meyers has incredible taste. From her films The Parent Trap to It’s Complicated, every home featured in her films looks like your perfect decor dream. Well, in the hottie-filled film The Holiday (2006), Meyers makes us fall even more in love with the holidays with her perfectly cozy homes. Casting Jude Law was just an eye candy bonus.

    Kate Winslet’s (Iris) Cottage Home

Before everyone was obsessed with England and Kate Middleton, Meyers dreamt up this English cottage, which fun fact is fake (Gasp! —we know). They built the cottage exterior for the movie and the interiors are all set designs (that’s Hollywood magic for ya). Nonetheless, from the perfect stone fireplace, to the quaint kitchen, if this home isn't cozy we don't know what is.

The Holiday - Iris Home Come on! It was too perfect to be true.

The Holiday - Iris home  This space, makes us what to do a home exchange!

    Cameroon Diaz’s (Amanda) Cali Home

For those who don’t get to experience the joys of winter (not referring to iced windshields and snowy traffic jams), this home is the perfect cozy laid-back holiday retreat. Turns out this home is originally from the 1920’s and received a modern update. From the crisp decor to the warm wall colors, we wouldn’t mind skipping a winter or two to live here (forever).

The Holiday - Amanda House How does one wake up from here?

The Holiday - Amanda House  Reminder this film is almost 10 years old. Ahead of the game!

So grab a cup of cocoa and curl up on the couch to this rom-com holiday must. It will leave you feeling optimistic, warm and all kinds of cozy. Keep an eye out for the amazing sets!

    Diary Free Crepe

One of our very own Totties happens to be thebomb.com in the kitchen and she is sharing her must-eat, guilt-free, dairy-free crepes.

    What you'll need?

    400 ml Coconut Milk
    3/4 cup All-purpose Flour
    2 eggs
    Coconut Oil (to grease skillet)
    Large skillet/ pan

Some extras if you want to get fancy:
    Maple Syrup (you'll want that)
Blueberries (if you want some fresh bursts of goodness and some antioxidants)
    Roasted Walnuts

    Instructions:

Mix all those 3 ingredients together, let the batter rest for an hour in your fridge covered.
Once rested, grease up a skillet with a few drops of coconut oil (or grape seed oil, wtv).

Once your pan/ skillet is ready to go, whip out your ladle and place a scoop of batter onto the skillet. Make sure the batter is spread evenly.

The cooking time on each side should be around 30 seconds, you will know to flip it when the batter is no longer sticking to the pan, so giggle that pan girl!

Plate these bad boys, drizzle (or drench) some maple syrup, top with some blueberries and some crushed walnuts. BAMN! Perfection.

    Music

As much as we love acoustics vibes, EDM with some pop and progressive house influence really get us focused. We so recommend this playlist for your next work crunch or library sesh!

Slow cool beats mixed with soothing vocals that speak right to your insides is our version of music heaven.

Take a peep at our latest playlist we've compiled featuring a few of our favourites.

    Drift Tottie… drift.

    Totties

We wanted to take a minute and pay tribute to a few gals we think are killing it, therefore making them Totties.

It was a challenge to keep this list short (There are SO MANY Totties) but here is what we came up with for now.

Our Totties crushes if you will:

DRUM ROLL PLEASE (just bang your hand on your desk , make it believable thanks)

    JENNIFER LAWRENCE

    Jennifer Lawrence

Not only is she a total babe, but this girl seems to always be telling it like it  is. From the reality of female actresses in today's industry, to her love for  carbs, JL knows how to keep it real.

     Total Tottie.

    LUANNA (of Le Happy)

    Luanna_Hottotties

Lifestyle blogger from the big apple, Luanna is just so cool. We  mean, look at her. And that hair? It’s like a colorist's dream come  true. She is also the voice and face behind one of our favourite  blogs Le Happy one we are constantly visiting on our tea breaks.

     Such a Tottie.

     REBEL WILSON

    Rebel Wilson Hottotties

One word comes to mind for this Tottie. And no, it's not rebel.

FIERCE. This girl takes life by the wheel and does what she wants when she wants. She projects her beauty (and hilarious jokes) from the inside out with a confidence us Tottie troopers aspire to have.

Also? she makes us pee in our leggings with all her aussie humour. But really.

    Tottie Giggles.

    ALICIA

    Alicia Hottotties

This gem of a human is an instant Tottie in our books. She is the  design force behind Hottotties and makes our IG look legit. Plus  sometimes she bakes cupcakes and brings them to the office for us  to devour. So that’s cool too.

High fives to an original Tottie.

    STACY ANNE LONGENECKER (LEIFSHOP)

    stacy anne longenecker Leifshop

Stacy Anne makes pretty things and we just love what she’s been up too  lately. She operates out of Brooklyn (just happens to be a fave of ours) ,  wears cute glasses (a bonus) and pretty much brings happiness to our  lives with all of her pretty little accessories… Check out her pillows!!

     Tottie Baws.
